When Loore's mother is taken to hospital and her father has to leave on an around-the-world voyage aboard a sailing yacht that simply can't be postponed, Loore suddenly finds herself spending the summer with her grandfather by the sea, looking after her younger brother and sister.
Grandad is kind, but a little absent-minded, and now and then he has a habit of wandering off into the village, leaving the children to fend for themselves. At first, the days are filled with feeding the chickens, looking after the goat, and making friends with the dog and cat. Then Grandad suggests a fishing trip to nearby Pedassaar Island.
But as the light begins to fade and Grandad is still nowhere in sight, Loore can't help wondering what they should do. With no phone to call for help and two younger siblings depending on her, she'll need all her courage and resourcefulness to find a way home.
