The Lithuanian Association of Literary Translators has declared 2024 as the Year of Estonian Literature. In celebration, works by contemporary Estonian authors and their illustrations will be showcased at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. The exhibition “Contemporary Children’s Book Illustrations” will be open in the library’s children’s and youth literature section from August 8 to September 22.
The exhibition features books published in recent years (2017-2022). “The books are written by popular authors of Estonian children’s literature. Most of them continue to write and publish one or even two books each year. All ten illustrators showcased in this exhibition have made a significant impact on the Estonian book world, and it’s hard to imagine this world today without them. The books by the featured authors have been included in the list of the most beautiful children’s books of the year more than once, and they have received recognition not only in Estonia but also prestigious international awards,” said the exhibition curator Viive Noor.
