Illustration Exhibition from Latvian Artists at the Children’s Literature Centre

From Tuesday, December 5th until the end of January of the new year, the Children’s Literature Centre will host the joint exhibition “With Love from Latvia” featuring works from eight Latvian illustrators. The participating artists in the exhibition are Anita Paegle, Alekseijs Naumovs, Arta Ozola-Jaunarāja, Gita Treice, Anda Strautniece, Kitija Role, Ernests Kļaviņš, and Gundega Muzikante.

Viive Noor, the art expert of the Estonian Children’s Literature Centre and the curator of the exhibition, states: “Latvians are our dear neighbors and we are spiritually close. They are close to us genetically as well. Probably, we share similar tastes and understandings. Framing this exhibition, I thought about the fact that, if we set aside each artist’s individuality, there is something in this showcase that reminds us of the works of our own artists. Not that we can draw an equal sign, but the exhibition seems somehow familiar and dear. Warm and friendly. There are pictures from books and pictures specially made for our exhibition. All made with love from Latvia. Come and see for yourselves!”

In addition, the attic gallery of the centre features a small winter holiday exhibition “Snowdrops in December” by Studio 14, open until January 6.

Both exhibitions can be visited during the centre’s opening hours: Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm.
