In 2023, the Estonian Children’s Literature Centre, in collaboration with the Narva Art Residency, launched a children’s literature residency with the aim of enriching our children’s literature. To this end, an annual competition is held to select two authors who, with the support of a scholarship, can reside at the Narva Art Residency for a specified period and work on their creations. The total scholarship fund is €4,000, with €2,000 allocated per person.
During the children’s literature residency, authors create a manuscript and/or illustrations for a book inspired by local cultural heritage, people, history, etc. Writers and illustrators from both Estonia and abroad, working either individually or as creative duos, are eligible to apply.
